PAMA Releases 2005 Worldwide
Microphone Survey Statistics

(October 6, 2006) PAMA, the Professional Audio Manufacturers Alliance, which represents the leading innovators and premier brands in pro audio, has released is research findings from it's "2005 Microphone Sales Survey".

The association, which produces the only independently reviewed factory shipment sales research program for professional microphones, has also expanded its research efforts as part of its ongoing development of membership benefit programs that support advocacy, awareness and networking for pro audio manufacturers. This has been accomplished by its launch of the industry's first "State-of-the-Industry Global Pro Audio Equipment Sales Survey". This new program now has compiled statistical sales survey data for speakers, mixing consoles and amplifiers for the 2005-year and the first six months of 2006.

PAMA has now released its research findings from its "2005 Microphone Sales Survey," a program that is now in its fourth year.

Report Summary:

  • Unit sales of microphones from 2004 to 2005 increased 4.3% for the global markets, which includes the United States, Canada, Latin America, UK, France, Germany and Japan, up from 3.3% in the prior year.
  • Wired microphone shipments were up 2.9% while wireless systems sales where up 8.0%, both numbers up from the preceding year.

Paul Gallo, Executive Director of PAMA reports, "We continue to have remarkable success with our research of the microphone segment. This has given us the experience and the confidence to expand into covering loudspeakers, power amps and mixers. The strategic value of having actionable sales data allows participants, PAMA members, to analyze trends and anticipate, on a timely basis, market changes and new opportunities."

The expanded PAMA research program invites all pro audio manufactures to participate, thereby allowing PAMA's survey staff to even more accurately calculate benchmark pro audio sales and market data. Pro audio manufacturers interested in more information on our industry research initiatives should contact Paul Gallo, Executive Director, Pro Audio Manufacturers Alliance, at pgallo@pamalliance.org or (212) 696-1799.
