| PAMA
To Hold Annual Retreat
(April 7, 2008)
Dear Pro Audio Manufacturer:
Thank
you for taking the time to meet with Mathias von Heydekampf
and me at the Pro Light show and for your interest in becoming
a PAMA member..It's been almost five years since many of
the most innovative, leading companies in the professional
audio industry decided it was time speak with one voice
about the issues that define the industry. That
voice, the Professional Audio Manufacturers Alliance (PAMA),
has played a vital role in promoting
the growth and profitability of pro audio in the Staes
and other major markets. We have served as the
industry's spokesman and advocate and providing a forum
for issues, trends and policy concerns. Much has been
accomplished to date but there is more that can be accomplished as
we increase the worldwide base of our membership.
Our
achievements are notable for their significance as we continue
to make major presentations to and are now getting critical
input into and feedback from every major industry association
we interface with: AES,
NAMM, NAB, IBC, NSCA, InfoComm, ISE and the Messe (Pro
Light) organization. We played a critical role
in convincing the NSCA and InfoComm boards to combine their
shows, giving the industry one strong event. We have
encouraged new initiatives like ISE while promoting to existing
shows that the exhibitors are customers who require cost
effective events which attract new business.
We
are currently operating the industry's first factory sales
tracking market survey, servicing the microphone segment
in eight distinct markets. Members have now authorized
us to expand our research program to include all market
segments. We look forward to moving ahead with research
in the mixer, speaker and amps product segments later this
year. We have annual full business-meeting retreats where
we encourage networking between industry leaders bringing
industry colleagues together to discuss the key strategic
issues that shape the future profitability and growth of
our industry. We have an trade show guidelines paper
and are now using that information to work with all major
shows to be more effective for the exhibitor.
PAMA
has formed committees that have
written position papers and are active in lobbying on vital
technical and business issues, i.e., the FCC/governmental
decisions on spectrum allocation. We expect to expand
these programs, useing our expanding leverage to encourage the
trade show organizations that have the income and staff to
help maximize the effort. We were also the only
organization that supported important information to
members on the WEEE and RoHC initiatives that have now been
instituted.
The
future promises to bring new challenges, more change, and
new opportunities that will require our active monitoring. PAMA is solely focused on elevating
the professional audio industry. With PAMA's help, members
can anticipate change and reach new levels of growth and
profitability not possible in the past. Companies large
and small all win.
Enclosed
here you will find a 2008 membership application form. In order to again meet the alliance's
goals and objectives, the Board of Directors of PAMA has
voted to maintain the annual membership fee at $4,000. Once
your company applies for membership, your membership will
run for one year from acceptance.I
look forward to working with you and your company and serving
the industry ever more effectively. Together, we are
making the professional audio industry a more informed and
integrated community.
As always, should you have any questions
at all, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Paul Gallo,
PAMA Executive Director
